Yesterday, as I was innocently resting on my perch, I was approached by a hideous beast. It is only now that I feel comfortable talking about it. 24 hours have passed and still, I shiver.
The fiend approached with a clatter and proceeded to insert a portion of its body into the wall. This appendage was long and thin and appeared to be attached to its base. The beast was approximately 1 meter in height, thinner at the top than at its bottom. Some sort of tubing was coiled at its back. Like me, its hue was of the greenish sort. This thing was massive!
Shortly after it tehered itself to the wall, it began making this deafening sound. It seemed to move around my domain, seemingly blind to my presence. I must have been in a great hiding place. Back and forth, this demon roamed, eating everything in its path. Forward and back, by my waste container, by my food dish, past the portal to the outside world, closer and closer to my location…
Then suddenly, it halted its advance and removed its appendage from the wall, perhaps preparing itself for departure (I hoped). It retracted its appendage and moved to a position next to the wall. There it has remained dormant since its tirade. I dare not approach it for fear it will unleash a second one, perhaps more detrimental to my health.
The ground is now clean, though.

Karl, have you ever met Uncle Matt, the travelling Fraggle? I think you two should compare notes on demons and such.
Comment by Bev August 15, 2006 @ 11:12 pmDearest Karl–
I too have problems with a similar beast. I have actually swatted at it but only heard laughter above it’s normal roar. However, one night, as it sat in it’s usual den, I snuck up and attacked it’s appendage… I have no front teeth, so my damage was minimal…but I have yet to hear its awakening roar.
Strike there, at the appendage…I think it has a weakness.
Yours in insanity
Laura
Comment by Laura August 25, 2006 @ 9:06 pmThanks, Laura. I have tried this tactic. My teeth being sharp and pointy had no problem puncturing the skin of this appendage. Instead of drawing blood, I was shocked to encounter some unknown force entering my body. This must be the creature’s primary defense mechanism. Oh, well. At least I tried.
Comment by Karl September 8, 2006 @ 12:58 pm[...] Once again, the beast of yore made its way, roaring back and forth across my domain. This lasted only a short time, at which point I took respite behind my ever-warm rocks. These latter items are strange to me, as they must harbor some sort of magic to remain consistently warm throughout the dark hours of the day. [...]
